In this month’s issue we decided to show the work of three designers that you haven’t seen before in Inspirational Art - Peter Windmill, Mark Beckemeyer and Ronald Weed. All excellent creative illustrators who have posted these images in the Xara Art Gallery forum of TalkGraphics in the last few months.

Peter Windmill

Peter has made great use of the new Art Brush feature in Photo & Graphic Designer 11 to create these two simple but beautiful images.  You can find them both in this thread  on TalkGraphics. More are promised soon, and we’re looking forward to seeing them (these two were created while he was still using the trial!). The second image is created entirely with the Art Brushes except for a green covering rectangle.

Mark Beckemeyer (Buckobeck on TalkGraphics)

We’ve picked just two of the images from Mark’s recent Big World, Small Things thread on TalkGraphics, but make sure you check out the thread itself because there are plenty more excellent bug illustrations to be seen, all with wireframes. The fly was the first post, you’ll find this grasshopper at #14 and as you can see from the wireframe (in the thread at least) it is more detailed, with more shapes and fills. Mark says it “took several hours to complete” using Designer Pro 11.

Ronald Weed (Uberzilla on TalkGraphics)

Ron recently posted this image in TalkGraphics here, and starts by saying it’s an old piece he works on occasionally, never finished. He doesn’t mention it’s so old that he started it in Xara Xtreme 2 and next returned to if with V5. Ron, we really hope you finish it in v11, but just in case we’re going to show it now - we think it looks pretty cool already!
