thinking outside the box Art Mix 11 INSPIRATIONAL ART
Page created with Xara Designer Pro X11
Inspirational Art has had a short holiday while we’ve been focussed on the v11 launches, but the holiday is over and this month we have another fine selection of illustrations created by the talented owners of Xara Photo & Graphic Designer or Designer Pro. For this issue we’ve simply picked some highlights from amongst the many great posts to the Xara Art Gallery forum in the last couple of months. Indeed we were unable to whittle it down, so we’ll have a Part 2 next month!
Graham Ward (Gray on TalkGraphics) No selection of illustrations created with Xara would be complete without a train, plane or automobile, and we couldn’t resist this one from Graham. This has to be his strangest plane yet, but apparently it’s real and you can find out a little bit more about it in TalkGraphics here.  The aircraft is all vectors, the background a mixture or vector and bitmap.  You can see some more examples from Graham in the Xara Art Gallery here.
Derek Cooper (Masque on TalkGraphics) Sticking with strange, Derek has been testing Xara Designer Pro X11 and this is the result, which was posted on TalkGraphics here. A quick test apparently, but a compelling image. You can also see more from Derek in the Xara Art Gallery.
Paul Saumure According to Derek “If you’re stuck for something to draw to test a new bit of software then you can't go wrong with some apples”. It looks like Paul agrees and this is the result, posted on TalkGraphics here
That’s it for this month. If you have enjoyed these images then all Likes, Shares, +1s, re-tweets etc are most welcome!
Paul has clearly got a handle on glass, so we thought we’d also show these remarkable 3D glass shapes, which come from the TalkGraphics thread here.  We’ve included the wireframe to show that it’s quite a ‘simple’ illustration, but the result is impressive - and a great use of Named Colors too. If you like that you might also want to check out some variations on the theme in this post.
